History
According to Patna High Court, the Mahavir Mandir was present in Patna since time immemorial. However, it became really famous in the year 1947 when many people visit there because of the partition of India. At that time, the temple was rebuilt as a concrete house.
Thereafter, more and more people visit the temple with their hopes and dreams, seeking solace and blessing from Lord Hanuman.
The temple started to become too small to accommodate all the people visiting the temple for worship.
Thereafter, In 1987, people decided to build it big with beautiful marble.
Patna’s Mahavir Mandir Trust: Brief Intro
The trust name of Patna Mahavir Mandir is Shri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samiti which is currently headed by Acharya Kishore Kunal.
The trust monitors the work and development of the temple as well as other organizations funded by the temple.
Below are the organizations funded by Mahavir Mandir Trust:
- Mahavir Cancer Institute & Research Centre
- Mahavir Vaatsalya Hospital
- Mahavir Arogya Hospital
- Other hospitals and orphanages in the rural parts of Bihar.
What makes the Mahavir Mandir Unique?
The Mahavir Mandir is unique for its free food service called Ram Rasoi.
In the city of Ayodhya, there is a temple called Ramlala, and just outside that temple, you will find the Amava Temple Complex. In this complex, the Ram Rasoi service operates, serving free food to devotees who come to visit Ramlala.
This unique service was started by Acharya Kishore Kunal on December 1, 2019.
Every day in between 11:30 am to 3:00 pm devotees who visit Ramlala at Ram Rasoi can enjoy a delicious meal for free.
To have enough food for everyone, 60 quintals of Govind Bhog shear rice are sent to Ayodhya, a special rice sourced from Mokri village in Kaimur, Bihar.
In the beginning, Ram Rasoi was able to provide meals for around a thousand people every day but seeing more and more devotees coming they are now cooking meals for over 3000 people every day.
Even, Government has recognized their service and given them a special certificate for their appreciation.
Can you imagine how much money, the trust spends on this food service every year?
It’s around 3.2 crore rupees!
That’s a lot, but they do it to help others.
Sita Rasoi
In addition to Ram Rasoi, the trust also operates a free food service called Sita Rasoi at Punaura Dham in Sitamadhi District, Bihar.
Sita Rasoi service has been functioning free of cost, since January 27, 2019.
Devotees who visit the birthplace of Mata Janaki are provided with free meals (both lunch and dinner).
Patna Mahavir Mandir: The Second Highest Earning Temple in North India
The Mahavir Mandir is not an ordinary temple because it has grown so much in these years.
If we talk about Mahavir Mandir Patna income, today, they are making 10 lakh rupees every single day!
They are the second highest earning temple in North India, just behind the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu.
Started with a small piece of land, In 2012, the temple bought 100 acres of land in Kesariya, East Champaran to construct the largest Hindu temple in the world aiming to help more devotees.
