Imagine a place where you can work, live, shop, and relax — all in one location.
That’s exactly what the Bihar government is planning with its upcoming integrated industrial townships. These smart zones will bring factories, employee housing, markets, parks, and public facilities together under one development model.
Where Will These Townships Be Built?
The Bihar Industries Department has shortlisted 12 districts for these new-age townships:
- Rohtas
- West Champaran
- Saran
- Purnia
- Begusarai
- Vaishali
- Bhagalpur
- Banka
- Jamui
- Jehanabad
- Darbhanga
- Samastipur
In these areas, both industrial units and housing will be developed side by side, making it easier for workers to live near their jobs.
What Will These Townships Include?
Each integrated industrial township in Bihar will offer:
- 24×7 electricity and water supply
- Employee housing next to work units
- Proper sewage and drainage systems
- Shopping centers and local markets
- Parks, sports grounds, and green zones
- 40% of the area reserved for greenery
- Roads lined with trees and plants
It’s not just about work — these townships are designed for better living too.
Special Focus: Saran to Get Pharma Park
The government is also developing a pharmaceutical park in Amnour, Saran district.
Planned over 100 acres, this zone will include:
- Units for medicine production
- A common facility center
- Areas for pharmaceutical research
This development comes under the newly approved Bihar Pharmaceutical Promotion Policy 2024, which supports investment and innovation in the medical industry.
What If Land Is Not Available?
In districts where no existing industrial zones are present — like Arwal, Shekhpura, Banka, Jamui, East Champaran, Saran, and Kaimur — the state will acquire land to build new industrial areas from scratch.
Why Is This Important for Bihar?
- It will boost Bihar’s industrial development
- Workers will have homes close to work
- These zones will improve quality of life
- More jobs will be created locally
- Long-term planning is being done for the next 25–30 years
“Once ready, these townships will improve worker efficiency and create better working conditions,” said a senior industries department official.
Ongoing Projects Under Similar Model
The state is already building a similar township in Dobhi (Gaya) under the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). This project is serving as a model for future industrial hubs in Bihar.
