National President of Jan Adhikar Party Pappu Yadav has announced to contest assembly elections from Patna this time. Pappu Yadav said that he will contest in Bihar Assembly elections this time from Kumhrar Assembly seat of Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency. Beside Kumhrar Assembly seat, Pappu told that he will also contest the assembly elections from Madhepura this time. When Pappu was asked why he would contest from two seats, he told that Madhepura is my birthplace, whereas I currently live in Patna. Last year, when there was water logging in Patna, the Rajendranagar area of Patna was the most affected and at that time I had served people night and day after seeing their sufferings. So, I am contesting from these two places this time.
Pappu Yadav will obviously get the support of the public of Kumhrar on the issue of water logging, but it will be seen how much he can challenge the BJP candidate on this seat. Let us tell you that BJP MLA Arun Sinha has been fighting on Kumharrar seat and this seat is considered safe for BJP. Now it has to be seen whether this time again BJP MLA Arun Sinha becomes the candidate or someone else.
If you look at the caste equation of Kumhrar assembly seat, there are about 4.50 lakh voters. Kumhrar is considered a Savarna assembly constituency. It has the highest number of Kayastha voters, who have a population of about one lakh. The rest of the other upper castes votes have a population of around one and a half lakh. Apart from this, the population of Yadav voters in this assembly area is around 45 thousand, Muslim 35 thousand, Dalit 40 thousand, Vaishya 40 and Kurmi voters around 25 thousand. How much this caste equation will help Pappu Yadav in the assembly elections will be a matter to be seen.
