The Bihar government’s recent decisions have brought major relief to families across the state. From increased honorariums for workers to free electricity and social security pensions, every household is now saving or earning more. On average, each family is benefiting by around ₹3,400 per month.
Increased Honorariums for Workers
Ahead of the elections, the state raised the honorariums of employees across departments.
- Mid-day meal cooks: ₹1,650 → ₹3,300
- ASHA workers: ₹1,000 → ₹3,000
- Mamta workers: ₹300 per delivery → ₹600
- School night guards: ₹5,000 → ₹10,000
- Anganwadi workers: ₹2,000 extra, helpers ₹500 extra
- Gram Kachahari secretaries and technical assistants also received significant hikes
Schemes for Students and Youth
Students and unemployed youth are receiving added support.
- Intermediate pass students: ₹1,000 per month while job hunting
- Graduate pass youth: ₹1,000 per month allowance
- Interest removed on Student Credit Card loans
- Physical education and health instructors: ₹8,000 → ₹16,000
- Over 1 crore students receive annual uniform allowance of ₹600–₹1,500
Special Benefits for Women
The new Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme offers ₹10,000 to one woman in every family to help them start small businesses.
- Two lakh graduate girls receive ₹50,000 each as an incentive
- At Anganwadi centers, 72 lakh children get nutrition and clothing support worth ₹700 annually
Pensions and Social Security
The social security pension was raised from ₹400 to ₹1,100.
- If both husband and wife qualify, the family receives ₹2,200 monthly
- More than 1.13 crore people benefit from this scheme
Free Electricity, Ration and Farmer Aid
- Every family receives 125 free electricity units—saving about ₹1,000 per month
- Two crore ration cardholder families get 20 kg of food grains monthly—worth about ₹800
- Under PM-Kisan, 74 lakh farmers get ₹6,000 annually, i.e., ₹500 monthly
Housing and Worker Schemes
- PM Rural Housing: 12 lakh families receive ₹1.20 lakh each
- PM Urban Housing: 5 lakh families receive ₹2.50 lakh each
- Garment Assistance Scheme: 16 lakh workers now get ₹5,000 (earlier only ₹2,500)
Education and Nutrition
- 1 crore schoolchildren eat mid-day meals daily, costing about ₹6 per child per day
- 72 lakh children at Anganwadi centers get annual nutrition and clothing support
The Result: Families Saving More
Combining all these benefits, Bihar’s 3.2 crore families now gain an average of ₹3,400 per month. In households with pension and free electricity, this goes up to nearly ₹4,500. The government says these measures are aimed at strengthening household finances and reducing monthly burdens.
