In a bid to stop Black Marketing of Masks and Sanitizers in the city, Today, Muzaffarpur Chemists and Druggists Association has asked all the vendors selling Masks and Sanitizers in the town to stop its black marketing.
The association told the vendors not to stock these items without MRP and also keep a record of selling these items. The association explained to the vendors that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has declared Hand Sanitisers and Marks an essential commodity for the next 100 days. That means the price, production and distribution of these items must be fixed under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
Under Masks, 2ply & 3ply surgical masks, N95 masks are included. The new act will be in effect till June 30, 2020, and vendors going against the Essential Commodities Act 1955 should be punished.
The Consumer Ministry has brought this Act to stop overpricing and black marketing of Face Masks and Sanitisers in India that is an essential commodity right now amid Coronavirus Outbreak in the country.
Muzaffarpur Druggist and Chemist Association President Ranjan Sahu and General Secretary Sanjeev Chaudhary Burman also urge vendors to take a minimum margin of these items in the public interest.
