The service book of more than 3.25 lakh Bihar government employees is going to be online soon. Under the supervision of Bihar Development Mission, the Human Resource Management System is going to digitalize the service book of all the Bihar government employees.
What is a Service Book and what detail does it contain?
A Service book is a document that records all the events of an employee in his/her entire service period (that is from his/her recruitment till retirement). From events I mean, his/her promotion, vacation, transfer, retirement details and more.
How Bihar is maintaining the service book of its government employees right now?
While some Indian states already have made the service book of its government employees online, Bihar still is maintaining the service book of its government employees offline.
There are some problems associated with the offline system. For example, if an employee is transferred from one location or one post to another, his/her service book must be transferred to the new location. But the service book of most of the employees did not get transferred properly. Seeing such problems, the state government decides to make the service book of all its employees online.
Making the service book online not just varnishes such problems but will also make the system transparent.
For now it is not clear the last date when the service book of all the government employees is going to be online, but as per the additional chief secretary of the home department, Amir Subhani, this work will be completed before March 2021.
Leave application to be submitted online
In addition to make the service book online, the bihar government has also decided to accept the leave application of its employee in online mode only.
