A Mega Food Park is soon going to open in 78 acres of BIADA land in Motipur Muzaffarpur. While addressing a press conference, The Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar and The Bihar Industries Minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said, around 30 companies are going to setup their unit in the Mega Food Park.
The estimated cost to build this park is said to be Rs. 400 crore and it will be said to give employment to around 5000 people.
Minister Shahnawaz Hussain said, out of the Rs. 400 crore funds, more than Rs. 50 crores fund to develop the infrastructure of the park will be provided by the Central government while the remaining fund will be provided by the Bihar Government.
Bihar Industrial Minister also said that out of the amount of Rs. 400 crore rupees, Rs. 300 crore rupees will be spent in building units of 30 companies, while the infrastructure of the park will be developed with the amount of Rs. 103 crores.
This is the second mega food park opening in the state, a similiar one is being developed in Khagaria District. Since 2008, the ministry of food processing industries are developing the Mega Food Park which is now also a component of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana.
The Ministry have so far announced 41 Mega Food Parks in 23 states and union territories in India out of which 19 are operation whereas the remaining are being developed.
As per a Times of India report, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, and Punjab has got three Mega Food Park whereas Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh has got two Mega Food Parks. The remain states and union territories has got one Mega Food Park.
