Yesterday, the General Administration Department of Bihar released a draft.
In that draft, the General Administration Department ordered the heads of all the departments, DGPs, Divisional Commissioners, and DMs to prepare the service book of state government contract workers joined in between September 2018 to January 2021.
Do note that, a service book is maintained by the same department or office where the employee is working.
Right now, there are around 4.5 lakh contract workers working under Bihar Government.
Seeing such a large workforce, the state government decided to prepare its service book.
What is a Service Book? What does it contain?
A service book is a document that records all the information and events that occurred during the service period of an employee.
A service book contains Employees:
- Name
- Father’s name
- Name of Husband
- Employment Date
- Post
- Date of Birth
- Aadhaar Number
- Caste
- Height
- Identification Mark
- Fingerprint (Left hand)
- Termination Date
In addition to all these, the service book also contains the information of all leaves granted to the employee during his/her service period.
The benefit of Making a Service Book
Due to service book:
- The government will have clear data of how many contract workers are working under them.
- If government allot any benefits to the contract workers, they will easily get them.
