bihar gives computer training 2.75 lakh teachers

To promote computer literacy in the state, the Bihar government has decide to give computer training to over 2.75 lakh teachers.

As part of a computer literacy initiative, the Bihar government installed around 19 thousand computers in the state run middle schools.

These computers are installed as part of the computer literacy initiative’s first phase.

Which means, the government will soon install more computers in the state run schools.

Now, out of these 19 thousand computers, each middle school gets 10 computers.

However, so far, students were trained through these computers via a 3rd party agency.

But now, the government has decided to give computer training to the school teachers itself. To overcome the need for 3rd party agency.

The state government has decided to give computer training to 2,75,266 middle school teachers in the state.

Do note that this is currently the exact number of middle school teachers (upto Class 8) present in the state.

As per a report, out of these number of teachers, 1,46,546 aren’t computer literate.

Now, the state government has ordered SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) to give computer training to all the middle school teachers in the state.

KK Pathak who is the additional chief secretary of Bihar Education Department has passed this order.

Teachers will Trained in Groups

To better manage the personnels taking the training without diluting the quality of education, SCERT decided to train these teachers in groups.

A group will not contain more than 80-90 teachers.

Once the teachers become computer literate, they can fill students’ registration forms right from the school. In that case, the students won’t have to visit cyber cafes and they can do such tasks for free in their schools itself.

In addition to that, teachers can help students to take part in online competitive events, apply for online courses, etc.

These are some of the reasons why the state government has decided to give computer training to over 2.75 lakh middle school teachers in the state.
