Bihar imposes 11 days of Lockdown in the state till May 15, 2021

Seeing the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Bihar government today has announced complete lockdown in the state till May 15, 2021.

The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has himself tweeted about the same on his official Twitter handle. 

While the lockdown takes effect from yesterday, here is the list of government offices and other services that will still run in the state in these 11 days of lockdown by following certain guidelines.

List of Government offices that will still operate in the Lockdown

Amid these 11 days of lockdown in the state offices of the General Administration Department, Police Dept, Civil Defence Dept, Electricity Dept, Water Resource Dept, Fire Brigade Dept, Health Dept, Disaster Management Dept, Telecom Dept, and Post Office Dept will still operate.

List of Commercial Institutions that will still operate in the Lockdown

  1. Banking, Insurance, ATM
  2. Offices related to Industrial and Manufacturing
  3. E-commerce
  4. Work related to Agriculture
  5. Print and Electronic Media
  6. Telecommunication, Internet, Cable and Broadcasting
  7. Petrol Pump, LPG
  8. Cold Storage and WareHousing
  9. Private Security Services

During the lockdown in Bihar, vegetable, meat, fish, milk, PDS and other food related shops will open from 7 am to 11 am.

Unnecessary movement in public places (even on foot) is completely prohibited.

Public transport is allowed to seat only 50 percent of the passengers and these passengers must be traveling by rail, aircraft, and other long distances.

Private vehicles are allowed to operate for health related activities.

Government vehicles of offices related to presumptive works are permitted to run.

Private vehicles, which are received e-Pass by the district administration, are also allowed to ply.

All types of freight carrier are allowed to move.

Private vehicles in which passengers traveling by plane or train are seated and have a ticket are allowed.

Private vehicles of government servants are allowed to go to duty.

All schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed during the lockdown and no exams will be taken.

Restaurants and food shops will remain closed, however, home delivery of food can be done from 9 am to 9 pm.

All religious places will remain closed for the common people.

All types of social, political, entertainment, sports, educational, cultural, and religious events will be banned.

All cinema halls, shopping malls, clubs, swimming pools, stadiums, gyms, parks and gardens will remain closed.

A maximum of 50 people can attend the wedding ceremony. Although DJs and processions are prohibited. The marriage will have to be informed to the local police station at least three days in advance.

Only 20 people can be involved in funeral and Shradh work.

All the District Magistrates will set up community kitchens in their respective districts.

For employment, jobs will be provided under MNREGA in rural areas and under urban employment schemes in urban areas.

All ration card holders will not have to pay any amount for getting ration in the month of May.
