3.5 Lakh Contract Teachers in Bihar now won’t get the same salary as Permanent Teachers

Right now, More than 3.5 lakh contract teachers are working in Bihar Government Schools. There monthly salary is around Rs 22000 to Rs. 25000. These teachers demands from Bihar Government to raise their salary equal to the permanent teachers which is around Rs. 35000 to Rs. 45000. They argue their work load is as equal as the permanent teachers then, why they aren’t getting the same salary figure.

Actually, this issue very old. Bihar Secondary Teachers Association first raises their concern about the salary of contract teachers 10 years ago. They even argue the same thing.

Government officials however justify this question by saying that Permanent teachers have got their Job via BPSC however, the contract teachers have got their Job via Panchayati Raj Contract. Therefore, we not able provide the same salary (like permanent teachers) to contract teachers.

7 month earlier, Following this issue Bihar Secondary Teachers Association files an affidavit in Patna High Court. At that time, Patna High court made their decision in favour of Bihar Secondary Teachers Association. However, later Nitish Kumar led officials challenges Patna High Court decision in the Apex Court of India. And Now, Today, Supreme Court of India have made their decision in Favour of Bihar Government.

Therefore, 3.5 lakh contract teachers in Bihar now won’t get the same salary as the Permanent Teachers.
