Yesterday, On the occasion of 75th Independence Day, the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar hoisted the Tricolor at Gandhi Maidan in the state capital.
Addressing a gathering after hoisting the Tricolor, Mr. Kumar announced the Dearness allowance of the state government employees and pensioners is increasing from 17 percent to 28 percent.
The finance department will soon release a notification about the same.
The hike in DA will take effect from July 1, 2021.
Here is all the announcement that CM has made at yesterday’s event.
Extending the Beneficiaries of State Government’s Incentives Scheme
Right now, if a candidate from Other Backward Classes (OBC) or Economically Backward Classes (EBC) is clearing the BPSC or UPSC prelims examination, the state government incentivizes them by giving Rs. 50,000 (for BPSC) and Rs. 1 Lakh (for UPSC).
So, till now only the candidates from OBC and EBC were benefited from this scheme but yesterday the CM announced candidates from all sections of our society are going to benefit from this scheme.
Notification of same will soon be released.
Extending the Beneficiaries of Centre’s Post-Matric Scholarship
Right now, only those OBC/EBC/SC/ST students are getting the benefit of the Centre’s Post-Matric Scholarship whose family income is up to Rs. 2.5 lakh per year.
The CM said, from now on students whose family income is up to Rs. 3 Lakh per annum is also going to benefit from this scheme.
A report from Indian Express recently revealed that no students from Bihar have benefited from the Centre’s Post Matric Scholarship for the past three years. Well, it is said, that happens because of a technical error in the National Scholarship Portal.
The Opening of Three New Agriculture College in Bihar
CM Nitish also announced the opening of three new agriculture colleges in Bihar.
- College of Agriculture Technology, Sabaur
- College of Agriculture Engineering, Bhojpur
- College of Agriculture Management, Patna
All these three colleges will be affiliated with Bihar Agriculture University, Sabaur.
Re-Introducing Agriculture Produce Market Committees in Bihar
Back in 2006, Shri Nitish Kumar led the Bihar government to abolish the APMC Act.
The government replaces the mandi system (APMC Act) with Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS).
The state government established the PACS at the Panchayat level
The main function of PACS is to purchase the food grains from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and sell it to the Food Corporation of India, State Food Corporation, and Private Wholesalers.
At that time, the state government thought, abolishing the APMC act will bring private investment for farmers but the same didn’t happen due to low market density. Also, the government agencies aren’t actively procuring food grains from the farmer. The result is farmers became forced to sell their food grains to the private traders who fix the product price on their own.
Seeing all this, yesterday CM Nitish Kumar said that we will soon revamp and develop Agriculture Produce Market Societies in the state. We will provide separate storage facilities for vegetables, fruits, and fish at Rs. 2700 crore.
The other important thing the CM said at the event, all Bihar Villages will soon be covered under Milk Cooperative Societies.
A new Principal Teacher post in state government-owned schools will be appointed through competitive examination.
