Like other cities in Bihar and across India, Smart Prepaid Meter installation starts in Muzaffarpur too. Back on August 8 this month, to check whether the Smart Meter works properly it was installed at some of the houses of the electricity department officials. After founding the correct reading for a continuous 19 days, officials now decided to start its public rollout.
The first of which is going to be started from Kanti Nagar Panchayat, Muzaffarpur. There are around 2300 connections in the Kanti Nagar Panchayat area. However, Initially, officials decided to install 54 smart meters as a pilot project in the same area. Once they found everything goes right they will further extend the installation process in more houses. EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited) going to manage Smart Prepaid Meter connection in Muzaffarpur.
Those of you who don’t know What Smart Prepaid Meter is, you can compare it with the recharge plans of you mobile. For example, You recharged your smart prepaid meter with Rs 500, then the more electricity you consume the more your balance gets deducted. Once all your balance gets exhausted, then until you not recharge your smart meter, the electricity will not get activated in your house.
From the sources we know, one can recharge the smart prepaid meter via a dedicated app company has made for that. Right now, we don’t know much details about it. Once we know, we will let you know via some sort of post on our website or our facebook page.
