In a bid to help the beneficiaries amid Corona outbreak in the state, The State government is giving 3 Months of Free Ration. In a letter to all the District Collectors in the state, Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Department says Bihar Government is now providing the beneficiaries 3 Months of Free Ration that includes 5 kg of Food Grains to 8 Crore 66 Lakh beneficiaries and 1 kg of Pulses to 1 Crore 68 Lakh Ration Card holders in the state.
The same letter mentioned, the Public Distribution Shops is now going to open from 7:00 am and will operate till 4:00 pm. In this 9 hours of its operation, the extra 7:00 am to 10:00 am period is brought extensively for Elders and this period other categories are not allowed to take Food grains. The remaining 6 hours of operation is to continue like it earlier do. Earlier, the time slot for food grain distribution in Public Distribution Shops works as follows.
The 10:00 am to 2:00 pm slot is reserved for all the beneficiaries.
Thereafter, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm slot is reserved only for womens.
Now, An extra 7:00 am to 10:00 am slot has been added exclusively for elder beneficiaries of all categories.
The Bihar Government has also asked the Public Distribution Shop vendors to collect 3 months of food grains together if they like.
Asked Officials to Publicize this initiative among People
In the same letter, the Government asked the District Collectors to publicize this initiative via different mediums like giving information about this initiative by playing drums in villages, via local media channels and so on. The Government says this way, More beneficiaries get to know about this initiative and that restrict the Public Distribution Vendors to black market these products.
