Bihar to now Celebrate George Fernandes Birthday as a state function

Today, A cabinet meeting held under the guidance of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar approved some agendas. Out of these agendas, it has also been decided that from now on every year, Bihar going to celebrate Former Union Minister and Socialist leader George Fernandes birthday as a state function. As many of you already know that, George Fernandes died last year at Max Hospital, Delhi and posthumously he was awarded with Padma Vibhusan last year.

Now, In order to tribute and give him more respect, the Bihar Chief Minister has announced to celebrate the 3rd June (George Fernandes Birthday) of every year as a State Function. From now on each year, this state function is going to be organised in Muzaffarpur, Bihar where Geroge Fernandes won his first loksabha seat after the emergency was lifted back in 1977.

Later, George Fernandes became the Union Minister of Industries and during his tenure he ordered American Multinationals like IBM and CocaCola to leave the coutry due to investment violations. George was the key member of Janata Dal (now known as Janata Dal United) and is believed to be the closed ally of the current Chief Minister of Bihar.

In between 21 October 2001 to 22 May 2004, George was the the Defence Minister of India while Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India. You can read more about George from this Wikipedia article. For now that is all about this article.
