The Election Commission has released Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 Guidelines

While it was expected, the Bihar Assembly Elections to happen at its scheduled time, the same has today been confirmed when the Election commission released the Guidelines of Bihar Assembly Elections 2020. In this article, we are explaining everything the election commission mentioned in their guidelines about the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2020.

This is the first time; a candidate must file his/her nomination for the elections online. Apart from that, a candidate can go for an offline campaign with most up to 5 people. About Road Show and rallies, candidates and parties must follow the Home Ministry Guidelines.

While planning to conduct the elections in minimum stages, the commission may engage the contract workers of Bihar Government to help them achieving the same. Let’s take a closer look at all the important things the commission has mentioned in their 22 pages Guidelines of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020.

Important Points from the Guidelines of Bihar Assembly Elections 2020

  1. All the voters and the persons conducting the elections at the booth must wear masks.
  2. Before entering the hall, screening and proper sanitization must be done.
  3. Following social distancing norms, the voting must be conducted on large halls instead of rooms.
  4. There must be enough transportation vehicles for election personnel’s and officers.
  5. A nodal health officer must be posted on Assembly Seats.
  6. All the EVM and VVPAT machines must be sanitized.
  7. All the election personnel must use Hand Gloves.
  8. Online Trainings could be given to the Election Officers.
  9. All Candidates must file nominations online and should submit the print out of the same to the Returning Officer.
  10. The Candidates must also fill the Affidavit online.
  11. The Candidates must also submit the security money for their applications online.
  12. To Submit the application form, the candidates can go with at most 2 people.
  13. A large area must be provided outside the nomination centre for the candidates who came to file their nomination.
  14. All the election kits must be sanitized and their Transportation must follow the Standard Operating Procedure given by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
  15. At a Polling Station a maximum of 1500 voters could vote.
  16. The Polling Stations also must keep arrangements of proper sanitization, screening of social distancing.
  17. Every Polling Officers will be provided Masks, Sanitizers, Face Shield, and Gloves.
  18. Postal Ballet facility will be given to the 80 years and old voters, election personnel, and COVID-19 patients.
  19. A candidate can campaign door to door with at most up to 4 people.
  20. A road show must not exceed 10 vehicles. Also, at least 100 metre distance must be present in between each vehicle.
  21. A Counting Centre must contain only 7 Counting Table.
  22. The Control Unit will display the election result on large screens.
