This Thursday at Patna, a meeting of Smart City Board of Directors was chaired under the guidance of Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department, Shri Anand Kishore.
The meeting approved two projects. The first one is the beautification of Muzaffarpur Sikandarpur Lake and the second one is to build the drainage network in the city and construct a Sewage Treatment Plant.
Two month ago, I told you the tender to beautify Sikandarpur lake was released and now in yesterday’s meeting, the smart city board of directors has approved the chosen agency.
It is said, the cost to beautify Sikandarpur lake will be around Rs. 250 crores.
In addition to beautifying the Sikandarpur lake, the board meeting also approved to build a drainage network and Sewage Treatment Plant in the city at cost of Rs. 234 crores. So far, the tender to build the drainage network and Sewage Treatment Plant has not been released but in yesterday’s board meeting, the directors ordered the officials to release the tender ASAP.
The estimated length of the drainage network would be around 121 km which will be connected to the houses in the city via a Subline. The water from the sublime will be drained out to the main sewage pipe which in turn will be connected to the Sewage Treatment Plant.
The Sewage Treatment Plant will filter the water and supply it to the different cleaning related services, for example, garden, railway, garage etc present in the city. Additional water will be drained out to the city. Earlier, we heard the excess will be drained out to the Manika pond located outside the city.
7 Sewage Pump Stations in Muzaffarpur
In addition to the STP and Drainage network, 7 Sewage Pump Stations will soon be built in the city. Now, out of these 7 pumping station, we are confirmed that three of them will be built in MIT, Sikandarpur Lake, and Juran Chapra.
Six big construction companies of our country have shown their interest in building Muzaffarpur smart city sewage and drainage network.
In a recent pre-bid meeting, the companies have given their presentation in front of Muzaffarpur smart city officials and ask them to allow the company to participate in the tender.
The estimated cost of Muzaffarpur Smart City sewage and drainage network is Rs 234 crore. With this amount the below list of things will be constructed.
- A Laboratory
- A Control Room
- An MCC Room
- Four minors and six major drains
- 36 CC Culverts
- 7 RCC Culverts
- 11 Slit Trap Drains
- 7 Green Pumping Station
The laboratory controls the chlorination of water. It also tests the temperature, pH value, conductivity, turbidity, silt soil of the sewage and drainage chamber.
Talking about the control room, it will monitor the work of sewage and drainage system.
The silt trap drains throws out the silt from the drains.
The pumping station will pump out the sewage water out of the city. Also the pumping station will be smoke and noise free.
The Status of Muzaffarpur Sewage and Drainage Network
The tender of Muzaffarpur Sewage plan has already been published. Also, its pre-bid meeting is completed.
Now the companies have been given time till October 30, 2021 to participate in the tender.
The tender is expected to be finalized in the first week of November, 2021.
Now, as soon as the tender will be finalized, the work order will be issued to the selected company.
