There is a piece of bad news for people eating Pan Masala or Gutka in Bihar. Bihar Government has banned Pan Masala in Bihar. However, the ban is initially for 1 year but may extend if Pan Masala makers wouldn’t follow the appropriate guidelines.
Today, Bihar Health Office of the Commissioner of Food Safety released an order revealing Pan Masala Ban in Bihar for One Year. The same order also contains the list of Pan Masala Brands and explained why they are getting banned in Bihar.
Those of you who don’t let me tell you that, Back in June this year, the commissioner of Food Safety, Bihar collects 20 different samples of Pan Masala for test and analysis. After analyzing the samples, they found magnesium carbonate as an ingredient present in the Pan Masala.
As per scientific research, the consumption of magnesium carbonate for a long run leads to Acute Hyper Magnesia or sometime even leads to cardiac arrest.
Also, it is violating the regulation 3.1.7 of Food Safety and Standards 2011. Therefore, the Commissioner of Food Safety of Bihar State has completely banned Pan Masala for one year in the state. From completely, I mean its storage, distribution, transportation, Display, and Sale.
