Looking at the growing rate of COVID-19 patients in Bihar, One of the largest hospitals in North Bihar called Sri Krishna Memorial College and Hospital is reportedly preparing to open a COVID-19 testing lab in the hospital premises. Yes, we are talking about Sri Krishna Memorial College and Hospital located in Muzaffarpur. Now, If we follow a report published by Danik Bhaskar, then Muzaffarpur SKMCH is all set to open a COVID-19 testing lab in SKMCH VRDL Lab.

Right now, the officials of the same lab are getting trained to test COVID-19 samples in RMRI Patna, that has right now one of the four active COVID-19 testing labs in Bihar. To open a COVID-19 test lab in SKMCH VRDL Lab, SKMCH Principal has wrote a letter to the respective officials. Praising SKMCH Principal’s decision, Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh wrote a letter to the director of Indian Council of Medical Research.

SKMCH VRDL Lab has Biosafety Level 2 Approval (also called BSL 2)

Those of you who don’t know, SKMCH VRDL lab has Biosafety Level 2 lab i.e. BSL 2 approval and if we follow this post, then BSL-2 lab is allowed to perform routine diagnostic testing of COVID-19 with Standard Precautions.

Now, if SKMCH get permission to open a COVID-19 testing lab in the hospital premises then, a suspected COVID-19 sample from North Bihar will be tested and reported within a day. Right now, all suspected COVID-19 samples from North Bihar has been sent to RMRI Patna for investigation.
