India's first Dolphin Observatory to be made in Bihar

A good news has come up for all the Dolphin Enthusiasts out there. Especially, those who belongs to Bihar, India as the state to soon going to build India’s first Dolphin Observatory on a Bridge over the Ganga River near Bhagalpur, Bihar. The construction work of the Dophin observatory at the Vikramshila Gangetic Dophin Sanctuary is scheduled to be completed by early next year.

Sunil Choudhary, The Director of Vikramshila Biodiversity Research and Education Centre of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University said, The State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has already announced to build the Dolphin Observatory four years ago and it is expected the construction work to be completed either late this year or early next year.

As the observatory is being built over the bridge it doesn’t affect the ecology of the river Ganga. To be more specific about the bridge, this observatory is being built on Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat Bridge. The construction work has already been started and till now four special pillars has been build. The observatory is present at the center of the bridge and all its sides are going to be covered with the Glass. A cafeteria is also going to be present near the observatory and a parking lot to accomodate at most 75 vehicles at a time.

Do note that Dolphins are endangered species, amid all this, Bihar has India’s half of Dolphin population.
