Under Namami Gange Scheme, On September 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay the foundation stone of three new river front (Ghats) in Muzaffarpur.
Today, to decide the venue for the same event, the District Magistrate (Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh), Municipal Commissioner (Vivek Ranjan Maitreya), SDO Eastern (Dr. Kundan Kumar), Executive Engineer of BUDCO (Ashok Kumar Singh) visited all the proposed three river fronts (ghats) and selected the Sun Temple of Ward 15 as the venue to organise the same event.
The Executive Engineer of BUDCO, Ashok Kumar Singh said about the venue, we will further start the preparation once get approval from the PMO office.
The Executive Engineer also said, Under the Namami Gange Scheme, three places in Muzaffarpur has been selected where these three ghats are to be built. He further revealed, to construct these ghats the central ministry is investing Rs. 9.57 crores. The Tenders for all these three Ghats has already been completed.
Three New River Fronts in Muzaffarpur
Below is the list of places where three new ghats or river fronts are to be built in Muzaffarpur.
- A new River Front in Akharaghat
- A River Front in Sikandarpur Ghat
- A River Front in between the Ashramghat and Chandwaraghat.
The Urban Development and Housing Minister takes the first Initiative to build these ghats
The Urban Development and Housing Minister Suresh Kumar Sharma first took this initiative to develop these river fronts in Muzaffarpur like the Ganga Ghat in Patna. As per his proposal, a walking zone along with a new road along the river in between Akharaghat Bridge and Sikandarpur should be made. However, it is all up to the central ministry how they are going to build these ghats.
The Executive Engineer, however, has said, for now only three new concrete ghats are to be constructed. Also, all these Ghats are to be equipped with Mask Light and a dress changing room for women.
