Last Saturday, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi announced the date of the world’s biggest Coronavirus vaccination drive in our country.
On January 16, 2021, India is going to start the world’s biggest Coronavirus vaccination drive. In the first phase around 3 crore individuals from essential sectors like health, education, and police are planned to be vaccinated. In the second phase, priority will be given to those who are above the age 50 or below the age 50 with co-morbidities. The estimated number of individuals categorized under the second phase is around 27 crores.
Currently, the government of India has approved two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin to treat the patients of Coronavirus in India.
The Individual should must first register on the CoWIN app to get the vaccine. As said, the vaccination drive will start from January 16 but in the first phase only essential individuals will get the vaccine. To get the vaccine the essential individuals must also have to register in the app but the app is not available in public domain for now and is said to be in pre-production stage. Seems like the government is registering these individuals in the app from the backend.
At the time of writing this article, the app has reportedly registered around 75 lakh health officials. In Bihar only at the time of writing this article, 4.6 Lakh health officials have registered in the app to get the vaccine.
300 Centres in Bihar is selected to conduct the Vaccination Drive
Following the country, Bihar is also going to participate in the World’s biggest Corona vaccine drive from the same day that is January 16. This Sunday, the state health minister Shri Mangal Pandey said, around 300 centres in the state have been selected to conduct the vaccination drive. In Bihar also, the vaccine will be given first to the health officials but they should first register themselves in the CoWIN App.
The Minister said, not more than 100 vaccines will be given at one centre in a day. To store the vaccine, Bihar has created 1 storage at the state level, 10 at the field level, 38 at the district level, and 630 storage at the block level. All 9 Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals in the State, 5 Private Medical Colleges, 21 Sadar Hospitals, 17 Sub-Divisional Hospitals, 208 Primary and Community Health Centers, 1 Nursing School, 3 Referral Hospitals, and 36 other Private Institutes are chosen to conduct the vaccination drive.
The Covishield vaccine is to be given in Bihar
As I said above, the government of India has approved two vaccines Covishield and Covaxin to treat Coronavirus in the country. The question is whether both these vaccines are coming in Bihar or not. Well, it has been reported, Bihar is going to get only the Covishield vaccine for now. The Covishield vaccine is the Indian version of Oxford’s made Astrazeneca vaccine. In India, the Covishield vaccine is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, Pune.
As said, the Covishield vaccine will reach on Patna on January 14 directly from the Serum Institute of India Lab, Pune. From there on it will reach the storage at the state level and then will be distributed to the different storage levels.
It is said, 3 to 8 degree celsius of temperature is required to keep the Covishield vaccine safe. Hence, a special container has been made that contains the dry ice to store the vaccine safe.
