In a bid to ease the road journey of North Bihar passengers to Jharkhand, the Bihar Government may start bus service from 8 North Bihar Districts to Jharkhand.
Here are the 8 North Bihar Districts from where the state government might start bus service to select Jharkhand districts.
- Muzaffarpur
- Motihari
- Raxaul
- Bettiah
- Sitamarhi
- Darbhanga
- Samastipur
- Madhubani
Government Bus Service from Muzaffarpur to Ranchi, Tata, Dhanbad, and Bokaro
In a letter released by the Deputy Transport Commissioner from the office of State Transport Commissioner, it is written, the state government will soon start bus service from Muzaffarpur to Ranchi, Tata, Dhanbad, and Bokaro.
Those of you who don’t know, more than two dozen private buses are already running in these routes and their fare is 10-25% more in compare to the fare to these government buses.
The below table lists the fare of private buses running from Muzaffarpur to Ranchi, Bokaro, and Tata.

Currently, passengers from Muzaffarpur are travelling to Jharkhand either by the above mentioned private buses or via a train that is running in between Muzaffarpur Jn and Hatiya Jn (Ranchi). Since, this is the only train that runs in between Muzaffarpur and Jharkhand, there are limited seats available which results in the formation of a waiting list.
Government Buses from other North Bihar Districts to Jharkhand
Apart from Muzaffarpur, the state government will also start these buses from:
- Motihari to Tata via Muzaffarpur (on two routes)
- Bettiah to Tata via Muzaffarpur (on one route)
- Sitamarhi to Tata and Bokaro
- Darbhanga to Ranchi, Bokaro, and Tata
Well, the letter that has been released by the Deputy Transport Commissioner now but the approval of operating these buses will reportedly be given in a meeting that is scheduled to be conducted on October 19, 2021.
