In order to provide the pipe natural gas connection to the houses located in the city, IOCL is setting up District Regulating Stations (DRS) at 13 spots in Muzaffarpur.
At the start of this year, I told you IOCL has started laying underground pipes of PNG in select areas of Muzaffarpur.
Well, now we came to know that IOCL is setting up district regulating stations in Muzaffarpur.
These stations will be set up at vacant places in government owned premises and their function will be to supply the natural gas to the houses in the city.
You might be thinking right now, how will these District Regulating Stations supply natural gas to the users.
Well, those of you who don’t know, the DRS is basically a system installed at nodes in the pipeline network. It controls the gas pressure while it enters from one network to another.
Below are the places where the DRS system is said to be installed in Muzaffarpur.

- Bairiya Bus Stand
- Pandit Nehru Stadium, Sikandarpur
- In the premises of Science College, Gobarsahi
- In the premises of BIADA in Bela
- MIT, Brahampura
- Chandwara
- Malighat
- Mithanpura
- Ahiyapur
- Ramdayalunagar
- Saraiyaganj
Preparations are being made to provide the pipe natural gas connection to the houses in the city till March 2022. The work regarding the same project is currently in progress in Mithanpura. BIADA has provided the land to set up the DRS in Mithanpura. It is expected, it would cost Rs 250 crore to complete this project. In the first phase, around 1 lakh people will get the PNG connection in Muzaffarpur. A survey is also currently going on regarding the same.
