History of SKMCH
In March 1970 a society named Vaishali Shiksha Pratisthan set up the institution. Its founders included Sri L.P. Shahi (then a Bihar cabinet minister), the surgeon Dr (Prof.) S.M. Nawab, and Sri Raghunath Pandey. The college was inaugurated on 11 May 1970 by the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Sri Daroga Prasad Rai.
The first batch of students began even before the college had its own campus: classes were held in the building of S.K.J. Law College in Ganipur, Muzaffarpur. Founder principal Dr S.M. Nawab started a small hospital that grew, over the following decades, into today’s 1,000-plus-bed hospital at Uma Nagar.
