SK Singhal, born in Punjab and a 1988 batch Bihar Cadre IPS Officer has finally been appointed as the full time DGP of Bihar.
Today, the Bihar Government had issued a notification confirming the same.
Before Singhal, Gupteshwar Pandey (who was born in Buxar, Bihar and was a 1987, Bihar Cadre IPS officer) was the DGP of Bihar but five months before the completion of his service, he took voluntary retirement on September 22, 2020.
At the same time, Singhal was handling the charge of DGP of Bihar in addition to the Home Guard and Fire services.
Well, this all started back in January 31, 2019 when KS Dwivedi was superannuated as the DGP of Bihar. At that time, alongwith Gupteshwar Pandey and other officers, the Bihar Home Department sent the name of SK Singhal to the Union Public Service Commission to select a new DGP of Bihar. At that time, Gupteshwar Pandey was selected as the DGP of Bihar and since SK Singhal’s name was present on that list, he has now been chosen as the new DGP of Bihar – as reported.
The newly appointed full time DGP of Bihar, SK Singhal is going to be superannuated on August 31 next year.
Do note that the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 has been completed while Singhal was holding the state DGP post and the election was concluded peacely.
After the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Elections, if you ask my opinion, the crime rate as I saw in daily news and reports has significantly increased. Let’s see how the newly appointed Bihar DGP is going to control the same.
