When are schools going to be open in Bihar

Today, the Bihar Education Department released a notification in which the department Principal Secretary allowed all the District Magistrates in the state to permit schools in their respective district to conduct classes from 6th to 8th standard that was closed since March last year due to the global pandemic.

Classes above 8th standard including colleges and coaching have already opened since January 4 this year.

A detailed guideline about conducting classes is also mentioned in the notification and some important things to take into consideration are mentioned below.

  1. The Classes must contain at most 50 percent of the students each day. For example, if a total of 60 students are enrolled in say class 6 then in a day not more than 30 students are allowed to take the class. The remaining 30 students should be called the next day.
  2. The faculty must be present in full capacity.
  3. In Government schools, 2 masks must be distributed to each student via Jeevika.
  4. The schools must take care of all the cleanliness measurements and keep Digital Thermometer, Sanitizer, Soaps etc.
  5. There must be 6 feet of distance between each student in the class. The same applies for teachers also in their staff room.
  6. All the doors of the school should be open at the time of the child’s arrival and departure so that the crowd does not gather.
