This Tuesday the Director General of Bihar Police (DGP), “Sanjiv Kumar Singhal” issued a notification ordering all the Police officials in the state to not use the mobile phones or engage on social media while on duty.
Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) issues notice, directing all officials not to use mobile phones, other electronic devices and be on social media while on duty except during exceptional cases.
They are allowed to use the Mobile Phones in exceptional cases.
The DGP said, we saw mobile phones and social media are distracting our personnel’s from doing their duty properly.
While on Traffic, VIP/VVIP duty, Festivals and other law and order situations when we want the police officials to do their duty properly, we found complaints at those situations they are busy on their phones or social media.
Looking at the same, we decided to prohibit the use of Mobile Phones and social media as much as possible while on duty.
The DGP of Bihar has given the power to all the Inspector Generals, Deputy Inspector Generals, Senior Superintendents, and Police Superintendents present in the state to take indisciplinary action against those violating this order.
This is not the first time when any police department in our country have done the same. Back in September 2019, Rajasthan Government also ordered the police officials to deposit their mobile phones to their seniors while dealing with traffic or any VIP movement.
In Bihar while most police officials are gloomy with this order, normal citizens have welcomed the same, saying, we also have been penalized for talking on Mobile while driving, then why not police officials be penalized for engaging on social media while they have to perform their duty.
